Hiked Pico Canyon this morning. It was pretty windy. The sky was very blue. The creek is dry now, the wildflowers are just about all gone and the grasses are turning brown, so that's a sure sign that summer is near. The birds were chirping loudly. Saw a quail and was able to photograph it. There were a lot of butterflies fluttering around too.
We have a lot of small white butterflies right now. I'm sure they have a place in nature but at least they aren't the small brown ones that lay eggs for the nasty army worms that do so much damage here
ReplyDeleteNice shot of the quail! Don't see that around here. We used to have pheasant running about, but not anymore.
ReplyDeleteWe use to see a lot of quail in our area but sadly they left as the developers move in and destroyed their habitat.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderful area to go hiking and enjoy the beauty of nature, Kay.
What a great blog Kay. I hope you'll be posting more soon. Wishing you happiness and many more hikes, Katherine
