Most of the wildflowers have come and gone in this canyon, but now the purple thistle is blooming like crazy. They were everywhere!
The water in the creek was down some, even though we just had a little rain storm come through about 2 days ago.
Today I even saw a "guided nature tour" group. I have never seen that in Towsley Canyon before. Usually I only see "guided" tours over in Placerita Canyon. The hills are still very lush and green, but they will soon be turning brown as we head into summer.
That pathway looks so inviting. I would love to walk down it. The birds are very pretty to as well as the scenery. Happy hiking.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Kay. Glad you got there. There were probably more people since it was the weekend. George and I do most of our hiking during the week--to stay away from the crowds.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever thought of joining a hiking group? There are two of them in our area and they take some good hikes--but we stop so much (taking pictures) that we'd never stay up with a group. We prefer to go alone I guess.
Hugs,
Betsy
Betsy,
ReplyDeleteI have considered joining the Santa Clarita Community Hiking Club, but I am like you, I love to stop and take photos, so it's probably better that I go alone. I usually hike on week days to avoid the crowds too, but Ben was working last Saturday and since he had been sick, I had not been able to get out, so I just need to get out and hike that day.
Kay
It looks like you had a great day for a hike and you got some wonderful pictures. Thanks for taking us along.
ReplyDeleteOkay I am a little slow. I just spotted your hiking blog. Wow, now that is a beautiful walk through the canyon with the creek and birds. The rock faced walls reminds me of the scenery around here and I love it. It is crazy that thistle has such pretty flowers.
